Singing with our whole voice, our whole body, and our whole self brings transformation and waves of positive change to our inner and outer worlds.
I am an award-winning singer with a BA Honours from University of Guelph in Sociology & Music, studied Ethnomusicology MA at York University, and am a graduate of the Community Choir Leadership Training Program in Victoria, BC. I've had the pleasure of working with incredible voice coaches from a variety of disciplines and I am the founder/director of the You Gotta Sing! Chorus, a non-auditioned community choir that grew from 19 members to 300+ in just 5 years!
My heart name is Vanessa Papillon (both names mean 'butterfly' in Greek and French) and I feel called as a "free-spirited pollinator" of joy and transformation (Alexandra Risen, Unearthed).
I believe singing can move you into incredible joy and transform your world as a bridge between your inner voice and outer voice. I'm here to help you explore your instrument in a safe, non-judgmental space and guide you in effective, healthy singing that supports the fullness of your voice and your creative dreams.
I feel most passionate when supporting your journey to find the wellspring of music within! You can read more about the process of working with me here.
Vanessa brought such confidence out in me to sing!
Everyone expressed the fun we shared. She allowed us a freedom to sing that is not often experienced.
The freedom to try it all and not be labelled or stuck in one place!!
We were able to do our best
without thinking about what our bodies were doing.
Her positive attitude and encouragement skills are life giving.
